Dr. Victoria Lien holds a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery; Bachelor in Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) from Trinity College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.
Upon her return to Singapore, Dr. Lien joined the Singapore General Hospital as a House Officer in various departments including Vascular Surgery, Breast Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery as well as in the General Medicine Department.
From 2016 to 2018, Dr. Lien was a Resident Trainee, Anaesthesia with the Singapore General Hospital and trained in acute and chronic pain management, intensive and critical care, invasive line monitoring, perioperative medicine and surgical anaesthesia.
Dr. Lien has an interest in improving post-operative outcomes for frail and elderly patients and has co-authored an article published in BMJ Open regarding a novel prehabilitation protocol that aims to determine if a pre-operative bundle of interventions that include physiotherapy, nutritional supplementation and cognitive training, can reduce the post-operative length of stay of frail and elderly patients undergoing abdominal surgery as compared to standard care.
Dr. Lien is a keen classically trained pianist, enjoys playing tennis and volunteers with SamaSama, a collective of like-minded individuals that aims to guide the public to see migrant workers in Singapore in a different light, hoping to draw parallels between the aspirations of migrant workers and ourselves.
